Music for Youth Success
The Music for Youth Regional Festival Series 2025 is the UK’s largest festival for young musicians which takes place in over 20 locations across the UK. Our Lincolnshire Festival, which was at capacity, took place on Saturday 15th March in Boston with performances from bands, choirs and groups from across the county and beyond. It was an incredible day of music making!
We ‘re delighted to announce that the following groups have been invited to perform, following recommendation from MFY, at the National Festival in Birmingham in July 2025. This is a three-day feast of live music with performances from young musicians, from jazz, soul and funk groups to choirs, orchestras and much more:
- Boston Youth Jazz Orchestra to perform in the ‘Voices in Harmony’ session on Friday 11th July at Symphony Hall
- Big Boston Wind Band to perform in the ‘Creative Ensembles’ session on Friday 11th July at Symphony Hall
- State of Mind to perform in the ‘Next Wave Showcase’ session on Friday 11th July at the Jennifer Blackwell Performance Space
- St George’s Academy Session Band to perform in the ‘Late Set’ session on Friday 11th July at the CBSO Centre
- Lincoln Youth Cello Ensemble to perform in ‘The Sound Collective’ on Saturday 12th July at CBSO Centre
- Ashen to perform in the ‘Full Volume’ session on Saturday 12th July at the Jennifer Blackwell Performance Space
Following the Regional Festivals, 347 recommendations were received nationally with National Festival performance slots limited to around 73. It’s a real testament to the groups above, and also to music making across Lincolnshire, to receive this special invitation.

You can also still bring your primary pupils to the MFY Primary Live concert on Friday 11th July. This interactive concert will provide children aged 4-11 with the opportunity to experience live music-making at the world-renowned Symphony Hall in Birmingham.
