Inclusive teaching within Lincolnshire

As a result of our collaboration with OHMI we are able to adapt musical instruments for young people who are physically disabled. Around our county many young people are now able to develop their interest in music. We have a young person using adapted drum sticks and a drum pad to help him realise his dream of becoming a rock drummer. Following the hire of a left handed clarinet for a whole class instrumental project last year this young person has been inspired to continue with clarinet lessons and these are fully funded through the OHMI Music-Makers scheme. We made contact with Adult & Children Prosthetics | Koalaa to support us in providing the right equipment for young people with limb difference to play the violin. At another whole class violin project we support a student with limb difference by using an antiphon hired through OHMI Instrument hire scheme We also reached out to Digit Music | Music Made Easier | Cmpsr and now have a student with profound and multiple learning disabilities making music using a CMPSR. It’s the highlight of his week!
