Playground Proms Brings Live Music and Creativity to 19 Schools Across Lincolnshire
Lincolnshire Music Service is delighted to announce Playground Proms, an exciting music engagement programme coming to 19 primary schools across Lincolnshire, bringing live performance, creativity, and environmental learning directly to pupils.
Designed to remove barriers to access and inspire children through memorable musical experiences, Playground Proms places professional musicians at the heart of school communities. Each participating school receives a full day of high-quality music activity, tailored to engage children of all abilities.
At the centre of the programme is an interactive 60‑minute performance by the acclaimed ensemble Graffiti Classics, delivered either outdoors in school playgrounds or indoors as needed. Known for their high-energy performances and wide-ranging repertoire, Graffiti Classics combine virtuosic playing with humour and storytelling to captivate young audiences and introduce them to live classical and contemporary music in a fun, accessible way.
In advance of the main performance, pupils also take part in a 60‑minute Dalcroze session led by a specialist practitioner. Using movement, rhythm, and listening, the session helps children develop musical understanding and confidence while preparing them to fully engage with the live performance.
All schools learn a specially written environmental anthem, reinforcing themes of sustainability and care for the natural world. Schools are encouraged to make the anthem their own by adding original lyrics, with pupils given the opportunity to perform alongside the professional musicians—placing creativity, pupil voice, and collaboration at the heart of the experience.
To ensure long‑lasting impact, each school receives comprehensive teacher and pupil resource packs, supporting learning both before and after the event and connecting the experience to the wider curriculum.
Playground Proms has received funding from Arts Council England, FLINSO and Lincolnshire Music Hub and is coordinated by Lincolnshire Music Service, with the ambition of ensuring every child across the county can access inspiring, high‑quality music opportunities regardless of background or circumstance.
