Lincoln Cello Ensemble Shines at Music for Youth Proms 2025 – Now It’s Your Turn!
The Lincoln Cello Ensemble has returned home after delivering an unforgettable performance at the prestigious Music for Youth Proms 2025, held at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on 11th November.
Hosted by TV presenter Naomi Wilkinson, the Proms were a dazzling two-night celebration of youth music, filling the historic venue with the energy and creativity of more than 3,000 young musicians from across the UK. From gospel choirs to steel bands, big bands to symphony orchestras, the event showcased the extraordinary diversity and talent of Britain’s next generation of performers.
Representing Lincolnshire with pride, the Lincoln Cello Ensemble took to the stage alongside over 1,500 other performers, presenting a specially commissioned piece titled A Lincolnshire Poacher’s Halloween Nightmare, composed by local musician Jonathan Nowell. Their performance earned rapturous applause from an audience of thousands.
“Performing at the Royal Albert Hall was absolutely incredible. Our students worked so hard, and to see them shine like the stars they are on that stage was unforgettable,” said Rachel Hill, conductor of the ensemble.
The Music for Youth Proms have long been a launchpad for young talent, with past performers including household names such as Nigel Kennedy, Dame Evelyn Glennie, and Nicholas Daniel. Supported by Arts Council England, the National Education Union, ABRSM, and the Musicians’ Union, the event continues to provide life-changing opportunities for young musicians nationwide.
