Professional Musicians Inspire Lincolnshire’s Young Talent
Over 100 pupils from Westgate Academy in Lincoln were thrilled to take part in a special workshop led by Abbie Young, a talented French Horn player, ahead of her performance with the world-renowned Hallé Orchestra at the iconic Lincoln Cathedral.
Abbie captivated the students with her performance and shared fascinating insights into her life as a professional musician. The pupils eagerly asked questions and were then invited to witness the orchestra’s final dress rehearsal — a rare opportunity to experience the excitement of live performance in such a majestic setting.
Meanwhile, a group of advanced secondary school musicians were treated to a pre-concert talk by celebrated saxophonist Jess Gillam. Known for her electrifying performances and vibrant stage presence, Jess has graced the world’s major stages and hosts the award-winning BBC Radio 3 show This Classical Life.
