Music Centres

Your musical journey can start here

Whether you are just starting to learn an instrument, developing your skills through school, or already confident as a musician or singer, our Music Centres give you the opportunity to keep playing, keep learning and keep performing.

Music Centres are welcoming, inclusive and completely FREE to attend in 2026/27.

Across Lincolnshire, young people can join ensembles, bands, orchestras, choirs and specialist groups, meet other young musicians and develop their skills alongside experienced and inspiring tutors.

And it doesn’t stop there.

Music Centres are part of a wider musical progression pathway, helping young people to continue their musical journey and discover where music can take them.

Where could your musical journey take you?

Keep learning and developing

Want to get better at your instrument or singing?

Music Centres provide opportunities to rehearse and perform regularly, develop musicianship, learn new repertoire and build confidence alongside other young people.

As you progress, there are opportunities to explore different ensembles, musical styles and levels of challenge.

You don’t have to be an expert to join. There are opportunities for young people at different ages, stages and levels of experience.

Play or sing with other young people

Making music with other people is at the heart of our Music Centres.

You could join a:

  • choir or vocal group
  • orchestra
  • concert band
  • jazz ensemble
  • big band
  • rock or pop group
  • specialist or development ensemble
  • musical theatre project
  • workshop or specialist music session

There are opportunities across Lincolnshire, so you can find a group that suits your interests, your instrument and your level of experience.

Perform in concerts and events

Music Centres give young people opportunities to perform in front of an audience.

Throughout the year, our young musicians take part in concerts, showcases, festivals and special events across Lincolnshire.

These performances are an important part of developing confidence, musicality and teamwork — and they create memories that young people can carry with them for years to come.

Perform beyond Lincolnshire

Your musical journey doesn’t have to stop at the county boundary.

Lincolnshire Music Service young musicians have opportunities to take part in regional and national events, festivals and performances.

Our ensembles have performed at major venues and national events, giving young people the chance to represent Lincolnshire, meet other young musicians and experience performing on a much bigger stage.

Recent opportunities have included performances at the Music for Youth National Festival and appearances at major regional music festivals.

Who knows where your music might take you next?

Take your music further

For young people who want to develop their skills further, there are opportunities to progress into larger and more advanced ensembles.

There are opportunities across orchestral, wind, brass, jazz and other musical styles.

For some young people, this can be the next step towards studying music, performing at a higher level or simply achieving something they never imagined they could.

But everyone’s journey will be different.

You might stay in a local ensemble because you love playing with your friends. You might discover a new style of music. You might develop the confidence to perform solo.  Or you might discover that music becomes something you want to pursue in the future.

There is no right way to progress — the important thing is to keep making music.

And it’s completely FREE

Music Centres are FREE for all children and young people in 2026/27.

We want cost to be no barrier to taking part in music outside school.

That means young people can access regular ensemble opportunities, rehearsals, concerts, events and progression opportunities without paying a Music Centre membership fee.
